Is this thread gorgeous, or what? This is Yarnplayer's "Garden Afternoon" and just looks fabulous in this vintage pattern. I find this pattern to be extremely time consuming, and I worked this necklace over several weeks, one motif at a time.

In other news, I FINALLY got new glasses, and I love them! Actually, I ended up getting two pair, one traditional bifocal pair, and one pair of progressives. I really prefer the progressives for now, although I do sometimes wear the bifocals at night while I'm tatting, especially with the finer threads. Anyway, as usual I find myself wondering why I waited so long. No more cricks in the neck from holding my head at a weird angle to peek out under my glasses so I can see what I'm doing!

This is an amazing pattern! The colours pooled in exactly the right position - or did you have to adjust for the changes? Whatever the answer, it looks great!
Congrats on the glasses! When I was a graphic artist - lots of years ago - I had to begin wearing them to see the fine stuff in my work! A drag, but it was a great thing to be able to SEE! Fox ; ))
Is that an edging pattern? I'd love to know where I can get that pattern, and I love the thread too. I have some waiting for just the right project!

In the little I've tatted with her thread so far, I've noticed the color changes tend to enhance the pattern more often than not - a very good thing when dealing with variegated! Beautiful summery necklace. Good for you for getting the glasses!

I too am curious as to the pattern.
I also wear progressive bifocals (you could say that I actually have tri-focals) I have the pair I wear for normal (distance, middle nad near focus) and a second pair of just the middle and near focus that I use for computer work and for close lace work, when I don't need the distance refraction. gives me a bigger visual field.
This necklace is perfect on so many levels.
First of all the color is gorgeous. I have no idea how Marilee and the other HDT providers even go about dyeing threads! What yummy colors!
Then there is your PERFECT tatting. It's a joy to just look at those crisp knots and picots!
I have the book, and the way the pattern is shown, I would not have been inspired to try it. (I have tatted other patterns from the book, though; some are my favorites.) You have brought it to life! I like that it's just one shuttle and ball. Of course, it's written 'old style' - so I'd have to draw a diagram and change it into new style. If you tatted it directly from the book, I applaud you!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes with the glasses. I cannot believe I waited so long to get them (it's the busy life thing, I guess). I did post the pattern source for those of you that were interested. There was no planning involved for color placement. I thought the pattern looked like a trailing vine of flowers and leaves, so Marilee's "Garden Afternoon" thread seemed like a perfect choice. It turned out even better than I imagined it would.
